What is
Matsukaze-Ryu Goshin-Do?
Matsukaze means "(the
sound of) wind in the pines". Ryu means a style or tradition.
Goshin-Do means "Self-defense Way." The roots of this new style
are found in Japanese Jujitsu, Cuong Nhu, Judo, Aikido, Goju-Ryu, and other
styles.
This
style was founded by Soke Richard Place on April 16, 2003 at the Northern Lights
Martial Arts Center in Marquette County, Michigan, USA. Flowing Chi is the
first branch school to teach Matsukaze-Ryu Goshin-Do. Howard Hannon Sensei
is the first Master of the style promoted to Rokudan (6th Dan) March
28, 2004 at Flowing Chi Dojo by Soke Richard Place. Sensei Mike Yelsik was
promoted to Sandan likewise on March 28, 2004.
