What is Matsukaze-Ryu Goshin-Do?

Matsukaze means "(the sound of) wind in the pines".  Ryu means a style or tradition.  Goshin-Do means "Self-defense Way."  The roots of this new style are found in Japanese Jujitsu, Cuong Nhu, Judo, Aikido, Goju-Ryu, and other styles.

This style was founded by Soke Richard Place on April 16, 2003 at the Northern Lights Martial Arts Center in Marquette County, Michigan, USA.  Flowing Chi is the first branch school to teach Matsukaze-Ryu Goshin-Do.  Howard Hannon Sensei is the first Master of the style promoted to Rokudan (6th Dan) March 28, 2004 at Flowing Chi Dojo by Soke Richard Place.  Sensei Mike Yelsik was promoted to Sandan likewise on March 28, 2004.
